This event is for Glos RoADAR car and motorcycle members (and family members or invited guest), on Saturday 29 June 2024 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You must book a place to be able to take part

What’s a signpost rally?

It's basically orienteering by car or motorcycle. You will be given a map, that you get to keep, and photos of signposts (with questions). You work out where they are on the map, plot a route to visit a maximum of 75% of them, and answer questions to prove you visited each one.

Click Here for a "Tips for participants" guide to how to find locations on a map using logic and the supplied compass.

Example:

This signpost has plenty of placenames to be able to work out the rough area.

Q. There is a commemorative plaque on a bench about 15 meters from the signpost. What is written on that plaque?

This event is for any Glos RoADAR member, whether car driver or motorcyclist, and their partner / spouse / family member or guest and will be run between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. from:

This is a perfect activity for both car drivers and motorcyclists.

It is NOT a race.
It is NOT a competition.
It is NOT timed.
It is subject to national guidelines from the Competition Authorisation Office of the RAC Motor Sports Association Ltd, the authorising body for all motoring events held on the Public Highway in England and Wales.

This is the area of the map used for this event, OS Explorer Map OL45:

The map includes a code so you can download it to a smartphone or tablet for use offline free of charge. It's a brilliant idea that may suit those who prefer to use device-based rather than paper maps for finding and plotting routes.

Please note though that the venue is NOT WiFi equipped so you'll need to use your phone as a hotspot to enable the download.

Vegetarian / vegan / gluten free etc options, in the sandwich buffet, will be provided if requested. Please tell me if that is your preference.

We will provide a map to each attendee and, to help map reading, a 6-inch ruler, pencil, compass and eraser.

We think £5 each is a really good deal and have agreed that the group will pay the remainder.

We are limited to just 30 places so book early as some have already been taken!

Please reply and pay by the end of Saturday 22 June at the latest if you’re attending. Sadly this not flexible as we need to order catering and buy maps.
